Who I am

I am Dr. NeShante Brown, Founder of Main Things, LLC. I serve as a Life in Leadership Coach and Strategic Advisor, supporting top-level leaders in returning to what is essential. I help leaders move beyond the noise of “the many” to stay rooted in “the few” things that truly shape purpose, impact, and legacy in life and leadership. These are your main things.

My calling has always been to nurture growth, clarity, and grounded leadership.

I spent more than twenty years in the education sector in Memphis, TN, serving as a math teacher, school leader, and Executive Director of The Soulsville Charter School. I learned alongside brilliant students and remarkable colleagues who shaped my understanding of leadership, community, and sustainable service.

I also serve as First Lady of Light of Glory International Church, where my husband, Pastor Stephen L. Brown, and I have offered hope and healing for seventeen years. These experiences continue to teach me the weight of responsibility and the courage it takes to lead with both heart and conviction.

I am a proud Memphian. I earned my B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, my M.A.T. from Christian Brothers University, and my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt’s Peabody College. I am also a certified professional coach who loves thoughtful books (especially audiobooks), dance cardio, discovering new plant-based dishes, and time with my husband, our three children, and our dog.

Throughout my journey, I have supported extraordinary leaders. I have also witnessed — and personally lived — the familiar pattern:

  • Deep passion for meaningful work

  • Commitment to developing others

  • Creating care structures we don’t include ourselves in

  • Quietly sidelining our own well-being in the name of service

I know the cost of that pattern.
And I know the way back.

I believe:

  • Leaders must care for themselves to care for others well.

  • Sustainability requires intention and support, not just strength.

  • Leadership thrives when the main things are held at the center.

  • Purpose, impact, and legacy grow from a life aligned.

If you are ready to stop circling what matters and begin leading from it, I invite you to start the conversation.

The time for aligned action is now.
